Okay, this is something that I've been wondering about for a long time now. How do people get these really pretty soft gray-textured renders? What modeller do you use, how do you render, what specific settings?
Its a global illumination/Ambient Occlusion render. Ambient occlusion (google it) is a calculation of how much ambient light strikes a surface based on the surfaces around it...It usually makes a VERY good method of showing the geometry of an untextured model. I even use a texture baked ambient occlusion pass to help me shade the textures.
I like this model...very stylized...love the intakes around the fuselage...not too sure about the intakes on the wing engines though.
Also, there's a lot of flat/hard leading edges that makes the overall theme of the craft seem blocky and not aerodynamic...This is most apparent on the vertical stabs and the intakes on the side of the fuselage...

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it. Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article.
In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
